Since its creation in 1954, we have continued to develop the Tonnellerie Berger, while maintaining two characteristics close to our hearts ; its family atmosphere and its hand-crafting tradition.
Our Hand-crafting Tradition
Our barrels are tailor-made to order. Depending on our customers’ needs and the precise characteristics of their different wines, we adapt the blends of our carefully selected woods. Finally we adapt the length and intensity of the toasting. Our years of experience allow us to offer perfectly adapted barrels for the ageing of each wine.
Thus our customers all agree that during comparative tastings, our barrels “always stand out as an example of good balance, classicism and moderation.”
Our Family Tradition
In our art, everything is a question of heritage, whether genetic or passion-born. At the Tonnellerie Berger, sons, brothers, nephews and cousins have always worked together in the common goal of creating top quality barrels. They have transmitted their love of their craft to all the coopers trained at the cooperage and the future is ensured thanks to our children, already showing a passion for the profession.
We are also lucky to benefit from a very privileged geographical location : the heart of the Médoc. Our proximity to the greatest estates gives us an undeniable advantage in our contact with the cellar-masters and managers of so many “châteaux.”
But beyond these traditions of family values and ancestral craftsmanship, we have chosen to give an innovatory dimension to our cooperage, embracing the world of technology and science through our partnership with the Excell laboratory.
