Inauguration of the new timberyard and offices

Inauguration of the new timberyard and offices

On 26th August our family was very happy to welcome both French and foreign customers to the cooperage for the inauguration of the new timberyard and offices.

Over 250 people made the journey from near and far to share this special moment with our family company. During the evening we were able to present our new projects :

  • Firstly, in 2011, we will release a new barrel made with extra fine grain merrain, dried for four years in the open air. The staves will be un-piled and re-piled several times for an even better weathering and drying. This totally hand-crafted barrel will be made in a limited number only. For local customers this barrel could be made directly on the property,
  • Secondly, we are also pleased to announce the creation of our own stave-mill, to perfect the process of supply and transformation of the oak. Mr. and Mrs. Pereira, master stave cutters, who have been working for several years exclusively for the Tonnellerie Berger, have accepted to move to Vertheuil and join the cooperage team. We hope our stave-mill will open in the spring of 2011.

Watch this page for regular news of the progress of these two projects…

Kind regards,

René and Valérie Berger

Planting sessions

Planting sessions

On the 8th and 9th of May, with the precious assistance of our sons Nathan and Mathieu, we planted trees and plants to embellish the cooperage gardens.

We chose three types of oak trees for the park around the workshop (pedunculate, cork and holm).

Here are a few photos of our planting sessions!
